Greening of Detroits visit to Giving Tree Farm

Today I took a trip to Lansing, Michigan to the Giving Tree Farm. They some great greenhouses.

Greening of Detroit awards Georgia St. Garden a Hoop House

Hello all. Just found out today that the garden was awarded a hoop house from The Greening of Detroit. I can extend the growing season. I plan on planting some spinach, some more lettuce and some all greens mix. This also means I can start planting a little earlier.

The Garden's New Look

Everything looks so nice and clean.

Wayne State Law Students Volunteer at the Garden

Today the Wayne State Law School volunteered at the Garden. Twenty students came out and weeded and put part of the garden to bed by spreading compost. We also had a chance to plant a lot of perinnials. There should be more collor in the garden next spring. I can't wait.

Last Weeks Reading and Movie Night

The kids wanted to watch something a lil scary this week. So we put in I am Legend with Will Smith. We had twelve kids show up. The book we read was Attack of the Mutant Underwear by Tom Birdseye.

Neighbors are Harvesting

The neighbors are harvesting everything. Next year I will have to make some signs showing how to pick collards and cabbage.

Updates to The Gardens

Had to reposition the sign at the fall garden after some knucklehead backed into it. I planted a rose bush and two junipers in front.(1st pic)

At the corner of the Fruit orchard I planted some pereinnials. (2nd pic junipers at the left and right and rose bushes next to them)
